We were already fans of the dome structures but visited a few glamping exhibitions to gather some research on the market nonetheless. We had previously reached out to the known dome manufacturers and at one of these shows met FDomes, a polish-based Dome supplier.
After initial talks we flew to Poland to visit their factory and to see what they had on offer. It was clear that FDomes were a clear cut above the rest in terms of innovation and manufacturing.
They also offered off the shelf heating, insulation and ventilation solutions. (They now offer much more; however we wanted our domes to be as bespoke as possible with full control over the look, feel and quality of the brand). After asking many questions and dotting the I’s we took the plunge and ordered the first domes.
Our vision was to have an all year-round resort so it’s important that the domes are comfortable to stay in any time of the year. The dome itself is fully insulated, keeping the heat out in the summer and in during the winter. We heat the domes using powerful log burning stoves and oil heaters to add the extra kick when required. In the summer there is a large extraction fan built into the roof and we also supply a tower fan. On really hot days our staff even close the curtains to shield the sun from the dome.
Although the domes are made and sold from Poland, everything else from the decking platform, bathroom, inside bed, dressing and kitchenette module, is built in house from our own designs. Our approach is to aim for high quality and a top level of comfort whilst being aesthetically pleasing, drawing on the curves and angles of the domes but also using colours that blend together and into the surrounding scenery.
