Hoath House is situated right in the middle of some of Kent’s and the UK’s top tourist attractions with many options even within walking distance.
Whilst we have listed the most popular under our website menu, here are our personal favourites:
Hever Castle, I love it! So much that I often include it as part of my daily run when I visit the domes. It’s full of history, there’s so much to see and plenty of activities for the kids. It also has a hand-built lake that’s stunning. You can pick up a rowing boat there too.
There’s plenty of food options, but I personally enjoy the King Henry VIII pub next door which always serves top food.
Being a dog owner I’m a big fan of Kingdom too, as we can walk Barney and grab a coffee on the go. It’s a great spot for a healthy lunch and the Tree house café is so unique. You’ll be amazed the first time you see it. The views are incredible as it is in an outstanding area of natural beauty situated at the highest point in Penshurst.
Where to begin? I grew up locally, so know the area pretty well. Like Johnny, Hever Castle is one of my favourite places but I also enjoy Chiddingstone Castle and Penshurst Place for the history and Gardens. I’m a big fan of both the Spa Valley Railway and Bluebell Railway which have so much to offer.
The best day out I have had with the kids has to have been Groombridge Place,it’s really family focused and there’s so much to see. The kids love the peacocks and the boat ride.
If we’re feeling active, I like to take the family to Bedgebury Pinetum. It’s a 35 minute drive from the domes, so great for longer stays, but worth it for the off-road cycling routes and incredible pinetum walks.
My favourite place to eat is hard to pinpoint as every pub on our list is simply amazing. All offer superb local food with great atmospheres. The best family pub in my opinion is the Little Brown Jug. The best country pubs are The Rock, The Spotted God and The Kentish Horse. If you’re looking for something more bistro, restaurant style I would recommend The Bottle House or the Wheatsheaf. The HenryVIII pub is a great all-rounder and also a favourite.
